Arthur Carl Keck, 85, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Kingston Residence.

A native of Alhambra, CA, Art was a graduate of Maple Heights High School, Maple Heights, OH, and of Valparaiso University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked 44 years as a design engineer for Jack & Heintz, Bendix, Bowmar, and GE and was awarded 13 patents for his creative inventions prior to his retirement from GE in 1997.

Arthur Carl Keck, 85, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Kingston Residence.

A native of Alhambra, CA, Art was a graduate of Maple Heights High School, Maple Heights, OH, and of Valparaiso University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked 44 years as a design engineer for Jack & Heintz, Bendix, Bowmar, and GE and was awarded 13 patents for his creative inventions prior to his retirement from GE in 1997.

Art was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where he worshipped regularly and served at various times as an Elder, Usher, Greeter, and as Vice-President and Financial Secretary on the Board of Directors. He also served on the Woodhurst Community Association Board of Directors for many years.

He is survived by LaDonna, his wife of 63 years, and daughters Deborah (Wayne) Decker of Avon, OH; Christine (Robert) Michael of Fort Wayne; and Melinda (Michael) Hunkler of Nashville, TN. Also surviving are grandsons Joel (Sarah) Decker, Adam Decker, David (Rachel) Michael, Ryan (Alison) Michael, Eric (Britni) Michael, and Daniel Hunkler; granddaughter Rachel Hunkler; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise (Ellliott) Manke of Lakewood, OH, and Betty J. Becker of Brandon, FL.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Arthur C. and Dorothy L. (Niermann) Keck; brother, the Rev. Martin W. Keck; and sister, Emilie Gray.

The service in celebration of eternal life will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Avenue, with calling one hour prior in the church narthex. Calling hours at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road.

Preferred memorials are to Peace Lutheran Church.
